Bundle is a small, independent press based in Houston that publishes fiction, poetry, and hybrid, experimental works. A home for wayward writers in the Gulf Coast and beyond.

Bundle is a small, independent press based in Houston, Texas.

We publish fiction, poetry, and hybrid, experimental works. We are not a single theme or genre publisher; we are interested in works that bundle concepts and incongruencies together to produce new thoughts, outcomes, and modes of relating.

Bundle brings together feminist, anti-racist, environmental, and socially conscious writers and works. We question the prevailing values of capitalism and patriarchy. We are for the weird and wayward, the beautiful, the dumb, the capacious and generous, the obscure and inefficient, and the slovenly. We are against logics of scarcity and seek alternative imaginings of living and flourishing together.

Bundle Press

The Houston Poetry Recovery Project is seeking 1-3 poems from creative writers who take Houston and Gulf Coast historical newspapers as their source.

The newspaper archive is filled with curiosities, pigeonholes, mythologies of everyday life, and mysteries. Headlines, ads, classifieds, font types, illustrations, and photos can all inspire new creative conversations.

Poems can be erasures, found poems, or something totally new. All forms are encouraged as long as a creative link is made between the newspaper source and the new work.

Newspaper sources can be any Houston or Gulf Coast area publication, in any language, published in the 19th or 20th century.

For poetry examples that incorporate and respond to newspaper or historical archives and for suggestions of how to access newspaper archives, see the full call on our website.

Accepted authors will receive a modest honorarium and be invited to read their poem(s) as part of a live event in April 2026.

After the live reading, authors of accepted submissions will be invited to be published in a collection by Bundle Press.

To submit, please send 1–3 poems attached as separate PDFs without identifying information to contact@bundlepress.org with the subject line “HPRP Submission.” Please include a 1–3 sentence author bio in the body of the email.

<div><b>Bundle Press invites submissions of erasure poetry and erasure artwork that respond to Texas House Bill 229</b>, legislation that attempts to define "sex" based on reproductive organs and erase trans and intersex people. We welcome erasures of HB 229 that speak back to the bill's narrow definitions, transform the text, and take risks to imagine wider possibilities.</div><div> </div><div><b>View the house bill source text here</b>: https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/89R/billtext/pdf/HB00229I.pdf</div><div><br></div><div><b>Please send 1–3 poems</b> as separate files without identifying information. </div><div>Erasure poetry is a creative response that engages directly with the original source text by removing words. Erasure can be a tool of civic engagement in conversation with—or in defiance of—harmful public policy and laws. When legislation takes risk so casually, even maliciously, with language, erasure has a unique ability to reframe and reconfigure, taking power back. </div><div><br></div><div>See the call on our website for more information.</div><div><br></div><div><b>A few resources about HB229:</b>
